The role of the RSIS Projects Coordinator: The Round Square International Service Projects Coordinator is Liz Gray in the UK, and she works to organize all of the details of the individual RS projects  and to promote the possibilities and select applicants for the positions of Project Leaders, Deputy Leaders and participants. Liz administers all of the aspects of risk management, required documentation, etc., and works with the Project Leader of each individual project and the national and local agencies on site to ensure safe and meaningful undertakings. Liz also administers the funding from RS for each of the projects. The project is usually followed by a cultural phase which usually consists of a tour of the local sights, historic and cultural points of interest and activities such as white-water rafting or kayaking.

The role of the Project Leader: The Project Leader for each of the individual RS projects has usually been a Deputy Leader on a previous RS project, and he/she will usually know the people, the culture and the geography of the host country well. The Project Leader has experience in leading international expeditions and/or similar Service Projects and is a dependable and cautious individual who has the full endorsement of RS and of his/her home school (member school in RS). The Project Leader works with Liz Gray to finalize all details pertaining to the project, and is responsible for the onsite safety and program for the participants.

The Prince Alexander Project Fund: Prince Alexander zu Schleswig Holstein is a graduate of Stiftung Louisenlund, a RS member school in Germany; he has given his name to a fund to enable RS to cover the actual costs of building materials on site, and thus alleviate much of the cost for the individual participants. All RS schools fund raise for the Prince Alexander Fund, and the money is used only for the actual building materials for the individually sanctioned RS projects.

The role of the RS Rep: The individual RS Rep at each RS school promotes the individual projects and helps to prepare the student participants for the work and travel, and also works through the follow-up debrief activities.

The obligations of the students and parents: It is the serious obligation of each participant to consider carefully why they might be interested in RS projects and to make a full commitment to being a positive and productive member of the group, despite inevitable frustrations and setbacks. Each participant should prepare to the fullest in such areas as documentation, medication, education, etc., and commit to being fully involved in all necessary debriefing activities upon returning home. Ideally, student participants will commit to raising their own funds to cover the cost of the trip. Parents must realize that there are always inherent risks in such hands-on activities and in international travel, and they must be responsive and involved in all aspects of the preparations.
