Associate Members

Associate members are well resourced schools working towards joining the organization either as a Regional or Global Members. In most cases, these schools are interested in membership but would currently, not meet the membership requirements. These schools would be given support and direction in their objective to fully embrace the Round Square philosophy .

Following this, the Regional Director will contact you to let you know if your inquiry will lead to the application stage.

APPLICATION PROCESS

IntroductionThe Regional Membership Committees determine the priorities of the region and the number of Regional Members, Associate Members and Partner schools that can be accommodated in their respective regions.

Inquiry Phase

The School that is interested in Round Square Associate Membership (hereafter referred to as the “School”) contacts the Regional Director of Round Square to discuss Round Square and Associate  Membership through the submission of the online inquiry form. After a review of the inquiry, the school will be issued with a password to access the formal Application for Associate Membership form which will be appear on this web page after registration on the web site.

If a preliminary visit is felt necessary, the cost of the visit is assumed by the interested School.

Application Phase

The School submits an application for Membership to the Regional Director, a copy to the Executive Director (brian@roundsquare.org) and to the Business Secretary, Jane Howison (jane@roundsquare.org).The application includes signatures of endorsement and understanding of the responsibilities and opportunities of Round Square from the School’s Chair of the Board, the Head, a Round Square Representative designate and a student.

The Regional Membership Committee designates one person from the region to visit the School. The cost of visit is assumed by the Applicant School.

The person who visits the School will summarize the site visit with the Regional Membership Committee and this Committee makes the decision regarding approval of the Applicant School as an Associate Member.

Outcome Phase

If Associate  Membership is approved, the Round Square Regional Director advises the Membership Committee of the Round Square Board of Directors (at its March or October meeting) of a new member, registers the School with the Round Square Secretariat, and subsequently sends a congratulatory letter to the School.

II.        CRITERIA FOR ASSOCIATE  MEMBERSHIP

The School has been in operation for a minimum of five years unless founded as a Round Square School, in which case, two complete years of operation are sufficient.

The School’s curriculum, composition of students, staff and culture predominantly reflect that of the Region.

The School commits to embraces the IDEALS of Round Square philosophically and shows evidence of this.

The School articulates the goals for further growth in support of the IDEALS.

The School’s Chair of the Board, the Head, a Round Square Representative designate and a student sign the application in which they endorse the IDEALS, the responsibilities and the opportunities of Associate Membership.

III.       RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES OF ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Associate l Members pay half of the Full Membership subscriptions annually by the due date.

The School designates a Round Square Representative who is the primary contact.

The School designates a Board liaison.

The School develops a Round Square Committee.

The School may participate in exchanges within the region

Associate Members submit the annual self assessment form

The School attends Regional Conferences.

The School does not attend the Annual International Conference (unless invited as an observer).

Associate Members use the Associate Round Square logo and flag.

Associate Members are listed on the Round Square Web site as Associate Members of Round Square.
