About the Conference
Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School welcomed 54 students from across Australasia and East Asia for the 2018 Round Square regional conference this week, as they explored the theme “footprints we leave”.
Students aged 15 to 17 from China, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia examined the theme across a wide range of interpretations, while incorporating the Round Square ideals of internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership and service.
The action-packed program began with an opening ceremony on Sunday and students were set challenges as they explored Bunbury on Monday, which included an introduction to an Aussie staple – Vegemite.
Students also had the chance to experience a variety of local attractions, including sea kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. The programme included:
- Guest speakers – on service and kindness
- IDEALS Survivor challenges
- Adventure- Stand up Paddle boarding, Sea Kayaking, Hiking, cycling and Caving.
- Discover Bunbury Race, Everyday Hero Panel, Service day and plenty of Baraza time to discuss speakers and issues
