Students from Prep to Year 6 at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast raised more than $12,000 for World Bicycle Relief by designing a wheels-a-thon challenge.
A Postcard from Providence Day School: From Crisis to Creation; life after the pandemic
Providence Day School hosted a Round Square Postcard, with the title ‘From Crisis to Creation: Life after the Pandemic’ for students aged 15 to 18. We split the online event by creating two breakout rooms on a Zoom call; one focusing on environment during the pandemic and one about school life.
Collaborative Inclusive Project – “Time to Enhance your Skills”
The project was initiated with an aim to create awareness about equity and inclusion. The delegation size of each school was 6 students with atleast 3 differently abled students. With this initiative, students with different abilities participated in a group, which helped them improve their confidence and self-esteem.
Round Square Week at MLC Sydney
Every year a week in July we celebrate MLC School’s annual Round Square Week! The week is our opportunity to celebrate all that is Round Square and is comprised of various activities, installations, assemblies, and performances all run by our Round Square committee.
Immigration Forum hosted by Nightingale Bamford School
The vision for “The Forum on Immigration to the USA” was to raise awareness about the issue of immigration which German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called “The defining issue of our generation”.It was organized by a Nightingale Bamford Grade 11 (Junior) student, Antonia Brillembourg.It took the form of a Zoom webinar and featured three professors; experts in various aspects of US Immigration history and policy.It lasted 90 minutes and one hundred participants from fifteen RS schools took part. Participants were able to submit questions to the speakers for a response.
RKK’S Convivial Conclave
The Conclave, hosted by Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School was a purely student-oriented event. The school empowered its student community to plan, organised and execute a variety of activities to share with other schools throughout this collaboration. The Conclave comprised of a variety of interactive sessions for students aged 13 to 16. Students joined inquisitive and passionate discussions on various subjects ranging from Time travel to the Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.
Japanese Language and Culture Program at Nishimachi International School
The goal of Japanese education at Nishimachi is to develop the capability in each student to communicate in Japanese: reading, writing, listening, and speaking, while having a solid understanding of Japanese culture.
Birla Public School (Vidya Niketan)’s “Bliss Yoga” Collaboration
To help celebrate International Yoga Day on the 21st June, Birla Public School (Vidya Niketan) hosted a virtual yoga class. With social distancing measures adopted by countries to fight the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 theme for International Yoga Day was “Yoga for Health – Yoga a Home”. Thirty-four Round Square Schools took part working through a series of basic yoga-asanas with the aim to use yoga and mindfulness to improve their focus while developing a lifelong awareness of the importance of their physical and emotional health.
San Silvestre’s Acts of Kindness Challenge
The Acts of Kindness Challenge is a student led initiative at San Silvestre School in Lima, Peru. It was promoted during lockdown by the joint efforts of all of the secondary councils (ages 12 to 17) and focuses on encouraging everyone in the community to be kind.
Sunbeam Suncity School & Hostel Varanasi’s “Once upon a time” Collaboration
Between the 18th and 20th June, Sunbeam Suncity (& Hostel), Varanasi hosted a collaboration where students aged 11 – 14 narrated popular short stories of their regions with morals and values as it’s core theme.
