About

St Stithians Girls’ Prep, with the assistance of the Girls’ College and Boys’ College Round Square Committees, hosted a globally accessible conference for students aged 12 – 14. The theme for the conference was “Celebrate”, and adults and students alike celebrated Round Square’s 50th anniversary and St. Stithians Girls’ College 21st anniversary.

In total 109 student delegates Schools from around the globe (Germany, Jordan, India, Kenya, Namibia – to name a few) attended the conference and enjoyed four days on St. Stithians beautiful campus forming new friendships and challenging themselves to move out of their comfort zones and try new experiences. Staff observing the conference noted the growth and development in the delegates in this short space of time.

The conference offered delegates the opportunity to celebrate; to celebrate the world’s goodness, celebrate South Africa, celebrate each other and ourselves and to seek other opportunities to celebrate.

The conference started with the delegates tie-dying their conference t-shirts and working on IDEALS puzzles.  Delegates completed an orienteering course, attended a “Taste of South Africa” masterclass, debated topics led by our Grade 8 and 9 debaters, challenged their outlook on the world in an activity titled, Rebel Thinkers, they completed team challenges, visited the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve and Wonder Cave and completed a service project at Blair Athol Primary School. At this service project a large area was paved, a vegetable garden planted, trees planted, rubbish bins revamped and dance interactions organised with the children attending the school.
