About the Conference

This conference offered students from 12 to 14 years an opportunity to interact with other schools from the Americas Region. This conference focused both on Leadership and Service to the local community. With a chance to explore San Francisco and an opportunity to visit Monterey Bay Aquarium the group were certainly not left wanting more.

The student-generated theme of our conference is LEGIT. LEGIT stands for Leadership Equals Growing & Innovating Together.

Growing & Innovating Together:  Democracy for Education, Service, and Environmental Sustainability are the cornerstones of this part of the conference theme. The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the world leaders in technology and is home to some of the most innovative minds in the world. We will be touring some environmentally-conscious companies and facilities as part of the conference. Technology does not have to be at the expense of the environment. Students will be encouraged to work in groups to brainstorm and create new and renewable service projects to take back to their home schools.

Leadership: Leadership is inherent in all of our students, but like any skill it needs to be practiced in order to be effective. The second half of the conference will include leadership workshops and skill sessions. The hope is that delegates will be able to return to their home schools as stronger and more confident leaders.
