This position is a full-time (10 month), exempt position beginning August, 2019.

Responsibilities: This position will report to the Head of Middle School and will be responsible for teaching four science classes with one of the assignments to include the Middle School engineering electives. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the teacher will advise a group of 10 students, supervise a study hall for one semester, and perform periodic duty assignments. This person will also be responsible for assisting and/or advising the Middle School Science Olympiad program.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s is required; master’s degree preferred. Candidates should have a strong background teaching science using inquiry-based methodology, and a knowledge of basic earth, physical and life science content. The ideal candidate should also possess a general knowledge of engineering teaching techniques geared toward appropriate Middle School level activities. Knowledge and expertise in set up, organization and implementation of lab activities is essential. Experience in coaching and/or advising a Science Olympiad team is preferred. Use of technology in the realm of Google Systems (docs, spreadsheets, etc.) will be helpful, and experience using an iPad is preferred. This position will require the teacher to collaborate with team members to ensure content and curriculum will be followed, and that proper lab prep, and organization are implemented.
