Milton Abbey School’s Leadership and Adventure residential conference for 12-14-year-olds offers a dynamic and enriching experience designed to develop young leaders through a blend of exciting activities and creative projects. Over the course of a week, participants will engage in a variety of daytime activities such as sailing, mountain biking through scenic woods, and learning farming skills. They will also participate in command tasks, a team sports competition, and beach and water sports, ensuring a mix of challenges and fun. Evening activities are equally engaging, featuring daily practice for an end-of-week house team music competition, access to the school’s sports facilities for recreational pursuits, and a lively disco send-off, all set within the picturesque surroundings of our British boarding school. Additionally, the conference offers opportunities for creative expression through projects in our farm, fashion, and design and technology workshops with a focus on sustainability. This comprehensive program aims to foster teamwork, creativity, and leadership skills in a supportive and stimulating environment. To further enrich the educational experience, the week will include an exciting trip to London, featuring a visit to the renowned London Science Museum and a thrilling ride on the London Eye.
We have five boarding houses designated for the Leadership and Adventure experience. Three to four houses will accommodate boys and girls separately, while a smaller, separate house will host the visiting staff. Each house features a mix of triple, double, single rooms and all are equipped with at least three shared bath and showers rooms per house. Students from each school group will be evenly distributed across the houses to promote interaction with other Round Square students. Younger students will share bedrooms, while older students will have single rooms although we will always try and share where possible. Each house will be managed by Milton Abbey staff, with traveling staff assigned to houses during the day on a rota system. Each house is equipped with a common room featuring games and a TV for relaxation during downtime, and a kitchen for snacks outside of mealtimes in the main school dining hall. We can assist in planning your journey to the nearest train station to the school via the Underground (https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/) and Train (https://www.thetrainline.com/). We will then pick up your school group by minibus for a short trip to Milton Abbey School.
