Stuart Walls appointed Round Square Schools’ Support Director – Australasia & East Asia
Round Square is excited to announce the appointment of Stuart Walls to the position of Round Square Schools’ Support Director – Australasia & East Asia.
Currently Deputy Head – Middle School at Round Square Global Member, Scotch Oakburn College in Tasmania, Stuart’s career to date spans 26 years as a teacher and administrator in South African and Australian schools, where he has championed holistic education and experiential learning.
In 2012, Stuart completed a Master of Education that focused strongly on Global Education, underlining his belief that a core purpose of education is the development of self-directed, well balanced and ethical citizens who are ‘world contributors’. Stuart’s approach to education throughout his career, his experience working closely with Round Square themes and programmes, and his personal commitment to holistic, character education made him the perfect candidate for this appointment.
In recent years, Stuart has been the driving force behind Scotch Oakburn’s early adoption of the Round Square Discovery Framework and has presented on the RSDF at the 2017 workshops, the RSIC and most recently at the Global Conference for 14-15 year olds in Thailand. Stuart’s personal experience of working with the RSDF will undoubtedly provide excellent support and guidance to schools throughout the A&EA region as they experiment with the RSDF in their own environments.
We are delighted that Stuart will be joining the Round Square team, and are confident that his longstanding experience of working at all levels within a RS school, combined with his commitment and enthusiasm for embedding Round Square themes alongside academics, will be of great support in co-ordinating a new level of collaboration and networking between RS schools within Australasia and East Asia.
Stuart’s appointment is one of six new Schools' Support Director roles that are being introduced worldwide as the position of Regional Support Manager comes to the end of its three-year term. Further appointments will be announced in the coming weeks.
Our sincere thanks go to our outgoing Regional Support Manager for Australasia & East Asia, Rod Summerton, for his commitment over the past three years to building the RS network within the Region, supporting individual schools, and encouraging collaboration and good practice sharing across the community. We know that you will join us in thanking Rod, and wishing him well in his continuing role at Ivanhoe Grammar School.
Stuart will take up his new post as Round Square Schools' Support Director – Australasia & East Asia on 23rd July 2018.
