Collingwood School is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational, university-preparatory school founded in 1984.
Our exchange program, service trips, and participation in Round Square Regional and International Conferences epitomize the International strand. Moreover, our school offers opportunities for student input, and students are able to voice their opinion through elections for programs such as the student executive committee. The environment is also an important value which students support through recycling initiatives, beach clean-up sessions; and adventure is a fundamental part of our culture and is thriving in our outdoor education program, Explore. Collingwood also characterizes leadership through its plethora of student led programs. The Backpack Buddies program in addition to numerous local and global service initiatives show our deep commitment to the service strand.
What being a RS school means to us
One of the main initiatives that we participate in is Backpack Buddies. This program provides food for students in inner city Vancouver schools whose families aren’t able to provide food for them over the weekend. These kids rely on their school programs to feed them throughout the week, but often go home hungry. Our school holds fundraising drives where Collingwood students bring in money donations or food, which is packed in bags for kids over the weekend. Because hunger doesn’t take the weekend off.
