Lower Canada College (LCC) of Montreal is an elementary and secondary level private school. The boarding school was founded by the Church of St John the Evangelist in 1861 as St. John's School and changed its name to Lower Canada College in 1909.
Lower Canada College
Round Square is the sum of six ideals; Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service, which together equal a philosophy of learning that underscores LCC’s mission and values. The integration and application of these six ideals are intricately woven into both our academic and co-curricular programs at every grade level. They provide the guideposts for our student leadership. Much like homework, engagement in community service, the daily exposure to environmental and international issues, and participation in leadership activities, the IDEALS are the common lot of all LCC students. They are lived everyday by the entire school community.
What being a RS school means to us
A Round Square student is a Round Square person for life. Right from the start, the LCC student is exposed to the Round Square IDEALS. Elements of the Round Square philosophy are an inherent part of our daily school routine. Community service, environmental and international issues, leadership, meeting physical challenges and developing an appreciation of the outdoors are an integral part of the LCC academic and co-curricular programme. Round Square is a central part the fabric of student life.
