Straits International School

Straits International School

Straits International School caters for Nursery, Primary and Secondary students in Penang, Malaysia. The curriculum is based upon British standards accessed through Cambridge qualifications. The SIS motto is "Non Mihi, Non Tibi, Sed Nobis" means "Not for Me, Not for You, But for Us". Reflecting the aim of developing a community spirit in all students.

We implement the IDEALS in SIS through students developing a holistic view of learning. Our co-curricular schedule has a variety of activities which cover all of the IDEALS across every key stage and we also run specific activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Our Straits Community Heroes do outreach work in the local community and our Student Council reflects the reach of democracy in the school with members being voted in from Year 11 all the way down to Year 3. Additionally, we run an annual residential trip based around the IDEALS.

What being a RS school means to us

To be part of the worldwide network of Round Square schools is a great honour. We are excited to officially be part of the association which spreads the philosophies of Kurt Hahn and we know that our students will take great benefit from becoming truly holistic learners through the IDEALS. We are very excited for our students to experience regional and international conferences; take part in student exchanges and develop themselves through service projects.
