Today was our first day in the job site. It was challenging, hands on work, but we enjoyed it. 😁 Starting off, we trekked an easy path to receive instructions about our workday. 🥾Each member of the group had a different role, Meg and Lillian being concrete layers, 😎🆒 Abby, Eliza and Ida moving rocks 🪨 down to the dam in a formation with Nico and Elvis dragging down the big rocks 💪, Natalie mixing the concrete👩🍳 under the watchful leadership of King Vasudev.
We were joined with Jimmy’s group and throughout our day we tried some new foods, including tamarind, longan, and wax apples resulting in mixed reviews. 😙With a lunch break with the whole group in the middle of the day, we enjoyed rice, deep fried fish, mandarins with Summer enjoying vegetarian meals including tofu 🥬.
Hiking back to the campsite felt much longer, but once we were dirty and concrete dusted, a nice local boiled us some hot water 💧 for our bucket showers 🚿 🧼- a new but exciting experience.
To end the day, we all ate dinner 🍽️ and treated ourselves to a few games of mafia including Vasudev’s (more affectionately known as king Dave) epic murders 🔪 and Elvis’s awesome narration 🤯
