Today was our final wrap up of the project. As a group of young adults, we not only installed 110 light poles but also built a dam. This is an outstanding achievement in which every member can feel proud of.
This is because we we all had a major contributing factor to our end result. With the final few touch ups complete, we took many photos, videos and slow-mo’s of our work as a memorabilia of our success. Furthermore, many members signed off with a handprint and their initials to cement their part in the project.
We then made our way back to lunch and then listened to Mr Ti, Sunny and Eric give a debrief of the project. We heard about how valued our project is to the community as well as how much the locals will miss our presence. Finally, we got an understanding on being sustainable with our donations and decisions.
Unfortunately, we then began the packing process which hit home that we are leaving soon. However, sprints are still at a high, with the Round Square’s Got Talent celebration this evening. This has had our group buzzing with excitement, further increased by the buzz of finishing the project so we are certainly riding high. While the thought of departure is in the back of all our minds, the high of being on an RSIS project is still with us and isn’t leaving anytime soon.
Nellie, Layla, Harriet, Thornton, Thomas, Will, Flora, Ayda and Matéa,
It’s a travel day tomorrow, so no blog.
