Bedales is a co-educational, boarding and day independent school comprising: Bedales Pre-prep, Dunannie (ages 3-8); Bedales Prep, Dunhurst (ages 8-13); and Bedales Senior School (ages 13-18). The IDEALS in our school

Bedales was established in 1893 with a determination to be different and to educate ‘head, hand and heart’, a principle to which the school remains true today. Developing inquisitive thinkers with a love of learning is at the heart of our philosophy, along with our motto – ‘work of each for weal of all’ – which reflects our belief that young people should care for the community, their own or otherwise. With the opportunity to foster interests not only at school but also locally, nationally and globally, our students go into the world as citizens with a spirit of service firmly embedded in their world view.

What being a Round Square school means to us

Our educational approach has always shared the Round Square ethos, so in one sense it feels as though we have always belonged, and have finally come home! Our observers at the 2019 international conference were inspired by the connections they made with like-minded schools, and were thrilled at the opportunities to collaborate.
