Connect and Collaborate

Through the Round Square Network, schools make connections and plan and deliver lessons and activities collaboratively with other like-minded schools around the world. With a membership spread across 50 countries, there is always a new country or culture for students to discover through first-hand personal connections and experiences. Whether in-person, at Round Square Conferences, via Student Exchange, or on RS Service Projects, or online, through Classroom Collaborations, Zoom Postcards, Language Labs, or History Labs, the aim is always to build students’ International Understanding. Here are two examples of collaboration in action:

The World in Your Classroom

Round Square schools collaborate to connect classrooms on academic projects, plan cultural trips and exchanges, swap resources, share ideas, consult colleagues around the world on challenges we are facing and crowd-source potential solutions to shared problems.

Learn by Doing

Understanding that some of life’s most powerful lessons come from practical experience, Round Square schools encourage students to take on challenges, go beyond their comfort zone and discover that there is more in each of us than know. Through the Round Square Community, schools bring their students face-to-face with their peers from across the world to exchange ideas, work together on community service projects, learn about each other’s countries and cultures, and to discuss and debate some of the most difficult, and sensitive, issues facing our world today. Here are two examples of how we encourage students to learn by doing:

Student Leadership

A fundamental principle of Round Square is that, wherever possible, activities and initiatives are student-led. With this in mind, Round Square Student Committees are encouraged and empowered to initiate and lead campaigns and programmes that make a positive difference to themselves and others, both in their school environment and out in the wider world. Along the way they build character, courage and compassion in sometimes life-defining ways. Click the video below to hear more from some of the students in our network.
