With the introductions, ice-breakers and safety briefings out of the way, it was time for construction to begin. Learning new skills such as mixing mortar, moving materials and laying bricks, students have spent the day bringing the first elements of the new structure to life. Some of the team explain the process in their own words.
This evening, they’ll return for dinner and a Baraza session, taking time to reflect on a productive first day on site before work continues tomorrow.
