JOHN O’CONNOR
Chair of the Board
John O’Connor was previously Chair of the RS Membership Committee, and Deputy Chair of the Board, before his appointment as Chairman in 2021. John is Director of Brookhouse Schools in Nairobi, and has lived and worked in Kenya for nearly 30 years. He is a member of the G-30 Heads group and has served on accreditation teams for CIS, the Executive of the Kenya Association of International Schools and the Board of the Human Needs Project, an NGO working towards poverty alleviation in Kibera.
LISA MOLONEY
Deputy Chair: Membership
Lisa Moloney, first became involved with Round Square whilst Deputy Principal and Head of High School at Radford College Canberra. Lisa is now serving as Principal at MLC School, Sydney, where Round Square themes underpin a wide range of programmes, and students regularly participate in RS exchanges and Conferences. Lisa holds a B.Ed (Secondary) in Environmental Science, a Graduate Diploma in Music Education (Primary), a Master of Educational Leadership and has completed further study at the Harvard GSE.
INNES VAN NOSTRAND
Deputy Chair: Nominations
Nominated to the RS Board by Heads of School in the Americas Region, Innes van Nostrand is the Principal of Appleby College. Innes has been involved as a volunteer, presenter, author, and Board member with a variety of professional and community organizations, including Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS), The Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE), TABS, CASE, NAIS, G20 Schools, WLSA, Christ Church Deer Park, Rotary, Scouts Canada, and Queen’s University (having just retired from its Board.)
PAUL SANDFORD

Paul’s early experience of Round Square began as a student of Lakefield College School, and included a RS Exchange to Australia, a 1993 RS Project in India and Lakefield’s hosting of the 1994 RS International Conference. His career since has included senior leadership positions with firms specialising in asset management and investment banking including Ocean View Asset Management, High Tor Limited and Morgan Stanley. He has worked in China, Thailand, Singapore, the Bahamas and most recently the UK, where he is currently enjoying being a stay-at-home parent.
SIDDARTH SINGH GIRNAR

Siddharth Singh is Principal and Director of the CBSE (Delhi) and CAIE (UK)-affiliated Emerald Heights International School, Indore. His school was established in 1982 in Indore, India and now has 4,000 students and 250 teachers on its rolls. An alum of Stony Brook University, New York, Siddharth serves on the board of American Field Service (India). In March 2017, “Education world,” a leading Indian publication, named Siddarth as one of the “33 young rising starts of Indian education.”
CATHERINE DONOVAN

Nominated to the RS Board by the Round Square Representatives in RS schools globally, Catherine Donovan is the RS Rep at Stiftung Louisenlund. Having been involved with Round Square for more than 30 years, Catherine has extensive experience of hosting, organizing and participating in a wide range of Round Square activities and collaborations throughout the world such as an Eco-Adventure project in Costa Rica in 2008 in which students from Louisenlund and Westfield School spent 14 days working on service projects and hiking through the fascinating countryside.
GEORGE VANCE
Trustee
George Vance is Headmaster of Rockport School in Northern Ireland, which became a RS School on his appointment ten years ago. George is qualified in both Law (LLB) and Education (BEd), and has completed the Professional Qualification for Headship (PQH). He previously served as a trustee of Friends of Round Square (UK) and as a member of the RS E&M Membership Committee. In 2019 his school hosted a RS Conference for 29 schools from 19 countries. George is experienced in both the state grammar and independent school sectors, and holds the Lords Lieutenants’ Award for Voluntary Service as well as a long service award with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
REBECCA UPHAM
Trustee
Former Head of Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Boston, MA, Rebecca Upham is now a Search Consultant with RG175. Rebecca served 17 years as Head at BB&N, during which time a global perspective came to infuse many of BB&N’s programs and she led the school through the application process to become a Round Square school. Rebecca holds degrees from Middlebury College (B.A.) and Columbia University (M.A.) and studied at the University of Edinburgh. Her professional trusteeships include PAIS, Headmistresses of the East, Country Day School Heads Association, Headmasters Association, Cum Laude, and Chair of the G30, an organization of 30 prominent schools from around the world.
SALLY JAMES

Nominated to the RS Board by Heads of School in the Africa Region, Sally James is the Head of School at St Stithians Girls’ College. Sally has worked within the Independent School movement for over 14 years and has also lectured at the Wits School of Education. Her particular areas of interest include professional teacher development and collaborative learning communities, education and leadership of young women, technology and innovation, and educational and community up-liftment.
VANITA UPPAL OBE
Trustee
Vanita Uppal, is Director of The British School New Delhi. A member of the IB Heads Council, and the TES Global Advisory Board, Vanita is also Chair of the Executive Board of FOBISIA, and of the International Division of HMC. Vanita has served on the Executive Committee of the Association of IB Heads in India and as Chair for the Cambridge North India network. She received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2014, for her outstanding contribution to education.
ANDY TRUONG

Andy Truong is CEO with AKD International Inc, a Canadian education company which operates 11 schools in China as Canadian International School (CIS) and Concord College of Sino-Canada (CCSC). Andy is also Co-founder of the Canadian Alumni Network (CAN), and past Vice-chair of Canada China Business Council (CCBC) Beijing. He serves on the Board of Huron University in Canada, is a Board Executive for Educating Girls of Rural China, and is China Board Advisor to DofE International.
ALEC O'CONNELL

Alec O’Connell is Headmaster of Scotch College in Perth. Throughout his career Alec has served as Chair and on the Board of a number of associations and organisations. His current roles include Chair and Director of the Association of Independent Schools in WA (AISWA), a Director of the Independent Schools Australia (ISA), Chair of the TSH Board (a school for hearing impaired children and clinical hearing and speech services), and Chair of the Health Sciences External Advisory Board at the University of Notre Dame.
SARAH HAYAT

Sarah Hayat is Principal and CEO of First Steps School of Arts and Sciences, in Pakistan, referenced as a "Lighthouse School of Excellence”. She is a Member of the Cambridge Advisory Council for Pakistan, and is involved with Cambridge Assessment International Examinations. Sarah is also Rector of the Kallipolis College for Advanced Studies (KCAS), a Director to Faisalabad Literary Festival and Vice Chair of the Lyallpur Literary Council. In 2017 Sarah was appointed Chair of SOS Children’s Village in Faisalabad.
RACHAEL WESTGARTH
Chief Executive
Round Square CEO, Rachael Westgarth leads the Worldwide Management Team, reports to the Board of Trustees and works closely with the RS Membership to shape and implement Round Square’s strategy and direction. Having coordinated development of Round Square’s current strategic plan she has led a range of initiatives in recent years, including a collaborative research programme with leading universities, the inception and launch of the RS Discovery Framework and the creation of Round Square’s Heroes of Discovery for Early/ Primary Years. Rachael represents Round Square at international forums, and promotes the Round Square ethos on conference platforms around the world. A graduate of Oxford University, her career spans non-profit and commercial leadership roles in research, marketing, fundraising, program development and curriculum design.
JASON HARRISON-MILES
Marketing Director
In true Round Square spirit, Jason's start in marketing came through learning-by-doing, when he was asked to promote classes whilst teaching English in Japan. Since then, he has acquired more than 20 years of marketing and communications experience in schools and education charities. Most recently he was responsible for admissions and marketing at City of London Freemen’s School. Jason focus is on increasing visibility of the Round Square Network, celebrating the great work being done in Round Square Schools and working out fun ways of engaging students in our communications activities. Jason oversees and coordinates Round Square’s public-facing communications, including via our website, and Social Media channels, and developing support materials to assist schools in making the most of their Round Square Membership in your own Marcoms activities.
PETE SINGLETON
Operations Director
Having served 13 years on the Senior Leadership Team at the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Pete a long-time fan of Kurt Hahn. Prior to DofE Pete's work focused on experiential learning and application of adventurous activities to engage young people from challenging backgrounds. Pete has run in-school skills development programmes, international expeditions providing service projects to local communities, and has led business and product development for curriculum study and activity centres in the UK and France.
RAJBIR (BUBBLES) SANDHU
Schools’ Support Director South Asia & the Gulf
Bubbles has been associated with Round Square for almost two decades as the Rep at Vivek High School, India and more recently as RS Mentor and Coordinator for the SAAG Region since 2013. A former Head of school with teaching experience in both the secondary and tertiary sectors, she works closely with our Regional Trustee and Reps’ Representative in South Asia and the Gulf to support collaboration within the network, respond to Membership enquiries and guide development of Round Square in new and existing Candidate and Member schools throughout the South Asia and Gulf Region.
CRAIG CAROLAN
Professional Development Director & SSD Africa
Previously Headmaster & CEO at Stanford Lake College, a Round Square School, and most recently our School’s Support Director in Africa, Craig leads Round Square’s Professional Development for educators across our global community. Craig is also the main point of contact for RS schools and new enquiries within the Africa Region, where he supports on strategic planning, promotes and facilitates collaboration, and mentors integration of Round Square themes and practices within the region’s schools.
AIMEE THEODORE
Programme Support Director Europe & the Mediterranean
As Schools’ Support Director – Europe and the Mediterranean, Aimee is the main point of contact for RS schools and enquiries within the Europe and Mediterranean Region. In addition to supporting schools’ strategic planning and integration of Round Square themes and practices within the region, Aimee also provides practical guidance, support and co-ordination for schools across the RS global community that are working to embed Round Square within the curriculum. Previously Head of a UK Middle School, Aimee’s teaching career spans 17 years and includes working on a national curriculum project across multiple states in Australia. Aimee gained her Masters of Education in Australia and moved to the UK in 2009.
IAN CROSSLAND
Schools’ Support Director Americas
We are delighted to announce Ian Crossland as our new Schools’ Support Director for the Americas Region. Most recently, as Head of School at Park City Day School in the USA, and, before that, Colegio Los Nogales in Bogota, Ian brings first-hand experience of introducing Round Square to two school communities, as well as implementing plans and programs to bring RS to life in a school. Over the past two decades, Ian has worked in a wide range of educational settings (U.S. public/private schools, an international school, universities, online) and in a variety of roles (head of school, division director, classroom teacher, district administrator). Prior to that, Ian began his career as a lawyer, after graduating from the University of Washington School of Law. He returned to university to complete his Masters in Education in 2006 at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
SARAH MCGILL
Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive
As Assistant to the Chief Executive, Sarah works closely with Rachael on her day to day priorities, including key initiatives, such as the RS Heroes of Discovery, event planning for the RS Heads’ Symposium, and coordination of Round Square's Conference Calendar. Prior to joining Round Square, Sarah had worked as a PA/EA, for Oracle Corporation, Microsoft, and Wolseley Group, and is an accomplished global project and event manager. Early in her career Sarah was based in Bahrain, working for Gulf Air. More recently she ran her own business, and ventured into the non-profit sector as Senior Fundraiser and Marketing Manager for a youth charity.
BEN GEORGE
Projects & Expeditions Coordinator
Ben guides and supports development and collaboration between Round Square schools across Australasia and East Asia. Previously one of the Founding Team and Director of Co-curricular Programmes at UWC Changshu China, and Operations Director for Higher Ground in Australia, his 20 years leading experiential learning includes roles with Outward Bound and at RS school, St Paul’s Co-educational College in Hong Kong. Regionally, Ben has led development and implementation of experiential programmes and frameworks focusing on character development, design-thinking, sustainability, and wellbeing.
FLORENCIA MARANTE
Student Engagement Manager
Florencia joined Round Square in 2018 in the newly-created role of SSD for Latin America. She works closely with our Regional Trustee and Reps’ Representative in the Americas to support collaboration within the network, respond to Membership enquiries and guide development of Round Square in new and existing Candidate and Member schools throughout Latin America. Florencia is also a member of faculty at Belgrano Day School in Argentina, a Round Square School, and has a background, and holds degrees in both education and Journalism, Marketing and Public Relations.
RAKSANA KHAN
Finance Manager
Rox manages all aspects of Round Square’s financial management, and works closely with the CEO to draft budgets and produce financial reports for the Round Square Board of Trustees. A qualified accountant with over 10 years’ experience gained in both Corporate and SME businesses, Rox is well-versed in all aspects of accounting Auditing, Commercial, Financial and Management.
