Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking Director of Global Studies to lead the strategic vision and execution of our PK3-12 Global Education program.

Reporting to the Associate Head of School, the Director will be responsible for fostering a comprehensive culture of global awareness, shaping students’ global competencies, and ensuring high standards across all global education initiatives.

The Director of Global Studies will play a crucial role in advancing HIES’s mission of preparing students for a globally interconnected world, inspiring both students and faculty to engage meaningfully with diverse cultures and perspectives.

The Director serves on the Academic Leadership Team and oversees the work of global education faculty in each division. This is a 12-month position beginning on July 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership and Planning

  • Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategic plan for the PK3-12 Global Education program, collaborating with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Establish and oversee program standards for international travel, cultural exchange, and service-learning initiatives, managing quality and risk.
  • Drive efforts to embed global perspectives into curricular and extracurricular offerings, cultivating an inclusive, globally aware school culture.

2. Program Development and Implementation

  • Design, implement, and lead a diverse array of global education programs, including interdisciplinary courses, cultural exchanges, travel, and service-learning.
  • Work with divisional leaders, faculty, and staff to ensure seamless integration of global education principles across all grade levels and subjects.

3. Partnership Development and External Relations

  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with local, national, and international organizations, educational institutions, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent HIES in professional associations, conferences, and networking events, advocating for the school’s global education initiatives and sharing best practices.

4. Faculty Professional Development and Support

  • Lead professional development and faculty exchange programs, providing faculty and staff with the skills and resources to incorporate global perspectives in teaching.
  • Offer mentorship and coaching to faculty, fostering collaboration and innovation within the global education framework.

5. Curriculum Design and Assessment

  • Oversee the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of global education curricula, assessments, and learning outcomes, ensuring alignment with academic standards.
  • Implement evidence-based practices to assess student growth and achievement in global competencies, fostering data-driven decision-making.

6. Budget Management and Resource Allocation

  • Manage the budget for the Global Education program, strategically allocating resources to support program initiatives, faculty development, travel, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer and other stakeholders to secure funding, grants, and sponsorships that enhance and sustain global education programming at HIES.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Education, Global Studies, International Relations, or a related field required.
  • Proven experience in global education, curriculum development, and program management. Prior experience working with the Round Square International network is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in partnership building, faculty development, and budget management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
