If so, we invite you to apply for the full-time position of IB Diploma Programme (DP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) English Language A (Language & Literature) Teacher at Ermitage International IB School, in Maisons-Laffitte, Paris.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic educator who is passionate about English literature and language, with experience teaching both MYP and DP Language A: Language & Literature. The ideal candidate will have a strong subject background, a commitment to inquiry-based learning, and the ability to inspire students through critical analysis, communication, and creativity.
We seek a passionate teacher who inspires students in the classroom and beyond, championing activities such as creative writing, drama, and recitation, with energy and imagination. In addition to teaching, the role includes responsibilities as a Homeroom Teacher, and other contributions to the school such as Personal Project/Extended Essay supervision or student leadership activities and trips.

The responsibilities of the role include:
- Teaching IB DP and MYP English Language A: Language & Literature, ensuring engaging and effective learning experiences
- Assessing student progress and providing meaningful feedback
- Collaborating with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives and curriculum planning
- Promoting inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and appreciation for language and literature
Leading activities such as creative writing, drama, and recitation - Maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere and strong professional relationships with students, staff, and parents
Supporting students as a Homeroom Teacher, fostering a positive and supportive environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, or a related field
- Recognised teaching qualification
- 3+ years of experience teaching in an IB school or similar international context
- Familiarity with IB MYP and DP frameworks
- Experience supporting student research and projects
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
The candidate must have excellent proficiency in English, with strong communication skills in both spoken and written forms, suitable for an academic and international environment. It would be an advantage to hold an EU passport and/or have valid working papers for employment in France. The ability to contribute to another subject or lead an after-school activity would also be beneficial.
The role offers a salary in the range of €45,000–€50,000 per annum gross, subject to experience. While an expat package and housing are not included (as per the norm in international schools in Europe), relocation support is provided and includes visa assistance, flights, and two weeks of initial accommodation. All staff have access to professional development opportunities through the IB, ECIS, and other relevant providers aligned with school priorities and individual roles. A staff laptop is also provided. Ermitage is a warm, international community, and applicants of all backgrounds are highly welcomed.
This full-time position begins on 21 August 2026. Full orientation is provided, along with ongoing professional development opportunities and membership in the team PLC (Professional Learning Community).
