One day Responsible Rami thought she needed a sidekick. She used her special compass to find someone.

Meanwhile a girl called Anna was in her bedroom reading a book about history (it wasn’t as interesting as Anna thought it would be.) She was about to open her cupboard door when she heard a noise. It was a rattling noise. She slowly walked closer but then her cupboard door burst open! There she saw a person with an orange and yellow helmet. She also had a suit with a belt with a buckle that said, “Round Square”.  She had a torch in her hand and looked a bit like a firefighter.

Anna didn’t want to be rude by staring at her, but she looked…so different.  Which is good, but why was she in Anna’s cupboard?

“Hello”, the person said.

“Hello”, answered Anna, “who are you?”.

“I am Responsible Rami.  I am one of the Round Square heroes.

Anna replied, “I’m sorry, I still don’t really know who you are.

“I understand”, Responsible Rami said.  “I am Responsible Rami and this is why…I believe that we all deserve to feel safe, I worry when I see people in danger or being left out, so I play my part in making the world happy and a kinder place to be.”

“Do you mind me asking you why you are here?” asked Anna.

“Yes, I was hoping you would ask that.   I used my special compass to find a sidekick and I found you”, said Responsible Rami.  “With this compass you can do anything…well not anything.  Would you like to be my sidekick?”

“But I don’t have any powers,” said Anna. “How would I become a Round Square hero of discovery?

You do have powers, said Responsible Rami.

“What?” Anna thought this was impossible.   Why her?

“So, would you like to?” asked Responsible Rami.

“Yes of course, I would love to, but I simply can’t imagine me being a superhero,” said Anna.

It all started there, right in Anna’s bedroom.   This was just the beginning.   Anna discovered that she had ‘accountable’ powers, and they soon got to work.

One day Accountable Anna and Responsible Rami were helping a little kitten near the park.  When they tried to pick him up, he started mewing like crazy!   When they were trying to think what to do, Accountable Anna heard something.   She looked behind a bush near the bench where they were sitting and there, she saw a little boy kicking a kitten that almost looked identical to the other one.

Now she knew why the kitten was mewing so much.  She whispered to Responsible Rami and called her to “come here”.    Accountable Anna was furious about that little kitten being kicked around.  She jumped out from behind a bush and was about to say the bully should stop doing that, otherwise she would be extremely angry.  But instead, she felt very tired and as she slowly fell down, she just saw black.  The bully had knocked her out cold.

Responsible Rami was furious.  The bully continued to kick the kitten.  When Responsible Rami stepped out, she said “why exactly are you kicking that kitten around and why did you knock Anna out cold?”

The bully was about to reach out for her when Responsible Rami, Accountable Anna and both the kittens disappeared.  He just stood there amazed and shocked at what happened.

Meanwhile, Responsible Rami, Accountable Anna and the two kittens appeared in Accountable Anna’s room.

Let’s let her sleep said Responsible Rami and she and the kittens disappeared from sight.

The next morning, Accountable Anna woke up.  But something was different.  Accountable Anna acted like she didn’t know that she was a Round Square hero of discovery.  Responsible Rami started thinking that she wasn’t Accountable Anna anymore, just…Anna!

Responsible Rami started to worry about Anna and almost thought that she should shake her until she got to her senses.  It seemed like she was forgetting more stuff every day since she got knocked out cold.

Responsible Rami was thinking of going back to the bully and asking how he did it, but then she remembered that she was not allowed to ask questions without proof that Anna was forgetting things every second.  She could not just walk up to the bully’s house and question him like a detective.

Responsible Rami thought.  She needed to ask Courageous Collette and Inquisitive Indu what to do.  She at least needed to find someone.  She sent a letter to both of them and in a few days’ time they answered back.  They would come straight away at teatime.

When they arrived, they suggested reminding Anna of the bully and the last things that happened.  Responsible Rami felt a bit silly for not thinking of that.   They decided to ask Anna if she could come and see them.   When she did, they asked her is she knew who they were “no, not really she replied”.

Responsible Rami tried reminding her that the bully had knocked her out cold.   Anna was so angry when Responsible Rami said this that she started to react and came to her senses.

Just then, a crow started shrieking “C’mon, why did that crow have to shriek now?  She was almost Accountable Anna” exclaimed Inquisitive Indu.

“Try again and remind her about when you first met her,” said Courageous Collette.

“Ok” said Responsible Rami.   She told Anna again and about when she was in the cupboard and when they started working with each other.  Finally, Anna seemed that she remembered and then jumped up while smashing a vase on the coffee table.  She sat down again looking startled.   “Sorry”, she muttered and started cleaning up.

“Anna!” shouted everyone in excitement.

“What?” she said.

Once again Responsible Rami explained what they were doing.  As she came to the end of the story Anna said thank you to Courageous Collette and Inquisitive Indu as they left.   Then Anna turned round and ask ed Responsible Rami what to do next.

“Go and sort out that bully?” said Responsible Rami.

“Yes” said Anna.  “Let’s sort him out”.

So off they went to the park to see if he was there.  They spotted him behind the bush and came to talk to him.  After a while he said he was sorry and would not do it again.

Accountable Anna wondered what it was that had made him so mad?

They went home and relaxed.
