The Kilimanjaro Expedition team squeezed plenty into their final day before heading onto the mountain.
One of the more unexpected activities involved microscopes, with students taking a close-up look at a range of materials and seeing what they looked like at a cellular level.
There was also the important business of checking, packing and weighing kit. Sleeping bags, boots, layers and backpacks all had to be accounted for before the trek begins. By the end of the afternoon, everything was ready to go. Look out for a video coming soon.
Not all the preparation was serious, though. Lucas ended his birthday with a cake, and there was plenty of laughter while a station was set up for some hair braiding.
This morning, excitement levels were high as the team set off for their first hike. The route will take them to around 2,700m above sea level, with three to four hours of walking giving everyone their first real taste of life on the mountain.
