The Expedition Team caught their first sight of the mountain, and the scale of what lies ahead quickly became real. None of them expected it to be quite so high, and seeing the scale of it for the first time brought a mix of nerves, anticipation and excitement as they prepare for the climb.
Last night, there were talks from National Geographic Explorers Dr Paula Kahumbu, CEO of Wildlife Direct and Creator of Wildlife Warrior and Cat Jaffee, an award-winning science journalist and audio prodcuer.
Today will be spent making final preparations, checking equipment and ensuring everyone is ready for tomorrow’s departure. There was also an opportunity to celebrate as Lucas marked his 17th birthday with the team before the adventure begins.
As the team get closer to their first hike tomorrow, they share what they are excited and nervous about and talk about how they are coming together as a group, what they have in common and how they are surviving without phones.
