RSIS India 2025: Orientation

Share With

After yesterday’s travel day, today marks the RSIS India December 2025 team’s first full day on the construction site.

Following their morning project session—covering the Code of Conduct, medical briefings, and risk management—the Baraza groups gathered to discuss adventure, risk, and the importance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone in a responsible way.

The Baraza Groups have chosen their names for the week:

  • GIRKA – named for the countries the students in that group are from: Germany, Ireland, Kenya, India, Australia
  • Kuchanganya – Swahili word for mixing, mingling, working together
  • Mana – many meanings but essentially a life energy that flows through all things and humans which may be gained or lost with everything we do
  • Factorial – mathematical term meaning multiple or multiplier, for the multiplying effect of helping the community in its own efforts

They will soon be heading over to the construction site for the inauguration.

Check back later today for photos, videos, and updates from the team as they share their first impressions from the field.
