RSIS India 2025: Another Day on Site (updated)

Share With

Welcome everybody! Today, we are going to give you insight into the most tenacious, ambitious, tremendously great barazza group ever; well we may just be biased, but let us not get into that. In fact, let us delve into the recipe from this RSIS project that makes our group and any and every other person here so great. A day in our lives.

Ingredients:

  • Team members
  • Staff
  • Tools
  • Food
  • Safety equipment

Step 1;

Wake up in the morning at 6:15.. wonderful sleep in… while continuing out the door for breakfast at 7. While thinking we could wrestle the monkeys, but still being too petrified to even look at them, we then end up at the beautiful, two story dinning hall tree house. Everyday a new Baraza group “leader” is chosen to guide the group during the day. While following their instructions we are then told what we are to do throughout breakfast, the day at the construction site and dinner as well.

Side note: dependant on which day of the week it is means if we get to enjoy yoga with an instructor (in which you have to wake up extra early for).

Step 2:

This morning was quite different for all of us, as we added a new step to our recipe; yoga! A series of perplexing stretches that very few people could do. After breakfast concluded, we made our way to buses, we hear we had the most serene bus ride to our work site. There we do a few exercises to get all our gears ticking, then we get ready for a day of construction!

Step 3:

We then continued in our four Baraza groups to the bus, where we then got on the bus!

Step 4:

When we arrive we do a quick group activity as a collective run by the four leaders that run the day. After then doing warming ourselves up we continue to the official work site.

Step 5:

Quick briefing over safety and what jobs we are set out to do. Today we were paired with another group to work on (switches every second day) to work on brick laying.

Step 6/7:

Depending on whether we are laying bricks or mixing and/or karting the mortar or (mud like substance) upstairs for the brick layers. We set off working as a collaborative group to get through our target for the day.

Step 8:

We then in between, have breaks to regenerate and talk about our progress made so far.

Step 9:

We then wrap the day up, continuing to clean any residue or mess left, while also returning our equipment like helmets and gloves. After we do a roll call to make sure that everyone from each group is present so we are able to get on the bus.

Step 10:

Once we have returned back to the lodge, we are served with the best Masala tea and some snacks accompanying it. Sitting around the fire would have to be one of the best bonding experiences on this project.

Step 11:

Yummy traditional dinner….. then bed!!!!
