The IDEALS in our school

KIA embraces the Round Square IDEALS throughout all aspects of our school mission, vision, and philosophy. To develop responsible global citizens with international mindedness, KIA exposes the students to a range of global issues and teaches them to approach issues around the world without prejudice or preconception, to accept as well as respect differences with an open-mind. KIA offers students a bilingual international education and international opportunities; KIA students are exposed to adventure through experiential learning journeys, through overseas trips, and year-long study abroad programmes. KIA students have a chance of representation and participation in all aspects of school life. It is KIA’s vision and strong conviction to see its students become leaders who can think for themselves without being swayed by the majority, who can take initiative and cause action without being told by others, who can take risks, try new adventures, and explore new places. They can take responsibility for their own words and actions as well as others, and who can make informed and ethical decisions to create a better society.

What being a Round Square school means to us

Being a Round Square School allows us to expand KIA’s family connection, to be exposed to other cultures, and to acquire knowledge and skills from different perspectives. Round Square means being able to welcome more students to Japan, host them, and teach them about Japan and its culture. Round Square offers our students opportunities of self discovery, exploration, and making lifelong friends around the globe by participating in Round Square service programmes and projects, and in other schools’ Model United Nations and conferences.
