Lakshmipat Singhania Academy is among the forerunners of modern educational bodies in Kolkata. The Academy has emerged India’s No.10, West Bengal’s No.1 and Kolkata’s No.1 co-ed Day School in the ‘Education World’ India School Rankings 2024. The Late Lala Lakshmipat Singhania, after whom the school derives its name, was an industrialist, entrepreneur and a statesman par excellence and above all, a humanist who has contributed immensely to the cause of health services and education besides setting up industries in diverse fields by establishing hospitals, schools and colleges including medical and engineering colleges in a number of states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
It is after his vision that our school came into existence on 3rd June 1996, with a student strength of only 350 and classes up to V. Over the next few years, the school grew in its strength not only in the number of students, which is now about 1950 but also in the infrastructural aspects. It gradually evolved into a CBSE affiliated plus two coeducational day school. It has made a mark on the city’s map right from the start – a nine storied tall edifice amidst green foliage on the Judges Court Road, Alipore has the smart bearings of a modern day institution.
