The Ideals in our school

At Saint Felix School, the Round Square IDEALS are woven into the fabric of everyday life at school, from Nursery to Sixth Form. This is evident throughout our culture, curriculum, and warm, close-knit community.

We celebrate diversity and promote a strong sense of global citizenship, encouraging students to learn about different cultures, appreciate different perspectives, and engage with international issues. This is achieved via our three international boarding houses, group visits from around the world, international celebration days, and a modern foreign languages pen-pal programme. Student voice is also valued at every level, with democratic principles shaping school life and empowering students to take active roles in decision-making, such as choosing our school values.

Our unique coastal and rural location offers rich opportunities for environmental awareness and sustainability education, both in and beyond the classroom. Regular outdoor learning experiences, including Forest School, beach activities, and conservation projects, help instil respect for nature and a sense of responsibility towards the planet.

Adventure is at the heart of our educational ethos. From outdoor expeditions to personal challenges, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, building confidence and resilience. Leadership is cultivated through mentoring, student councils, and co-curricular initiatives, allowing pupils to inspire and guide others with integrity and compassion.

A core component of Saint Felix School’s holistic educational experience is the Saint Felix Diploma, which includes community service projects, such as helping at local community allotments and visiting care homes. By participating in these community projects and charitable work, our students develop empathy, social responsibility, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

Through the Round Square IDEALS, we aim to nurture principled, confident, and outward-looking young people who are ready to thrive and contribute positively to a complex and rapidly changing world.

What being a Round Square school means to us

Becoming a Round Square school is a natural progression of our values and educational philosophy at Saint Felix; it connects us to a global network of like-minded schools that share a commitment to developing well-rounded, compassionate, and courageous young people. Through this community, our students gain a broader perspective on the world and a deeper understanding of their place within it.

Round Square provides our students with authentic opportunities to engage in real-world challenges, international collaboration, and meaningful service projects and initiatives. It strengthens our focus on providing a holistic education by bringing the IDEALS to life through practical experiences – locally, nationally, and internationally.

This affiliation enhances our commitment to developing leadership, a spirit of adventure, and a proactive, ethical approach to life within and beyond school. It also enables our students to form lasting connections with international peers, thus broadening horizons and deepening their sense of global citizenship.

Being part of Round Square is not just about belonging to an international network; it is about embracing a shared endeavour to prepare young people for life with compassion, a clear moral compass, and the desire to make a difference.
