The IDEALS in our school

The IDEALS are actively embodied at Yakumo Academy. In the true spirit of internationalism our students take part in overseas English study tours, and develop an understanding of the meaning of global citizen through cultural exchanges. Participating in club activities develop and hone leadership skills and how to function while adhering to democratic principles. Maintaining a clean and orderly environment is part of our daily routine, inside and outside our school. Taking part in the annual three day outdoor training in the mountains reinvigorates the adventurer spirit in our students. Engaging with the local community through volunteer work allows the nurturer to shine.

Yakumo Academy believes in nurturing the ‘learning through experience’ principle, following the education philosophy of Kurt Hahn, the pioneer of experiential learning and mentor of Round Square.

What being a Round Square school means to us

Being a Round Square school means increased opportunity to interact with students from around the world, learn new ideas, have a better understanding of global issues, and to use English and improve our speaking skills.
