The Bermuda High School for Girls (BHS) is Bermuda’s leading school dedicated to the education of girls aged 4 to 18, with a co-educational pathway in Years 12 and 13. For more than 130 years, BHS has been a leader in education in Bermuda, taking pride in its role within the local community and in the achievements of its alumni. Home to 578 students, BHS is a socio-economically and racially diverse school. Its mission is to empower students to step confidently into the future by offering an excellent, innovative academic programme within a supportive, warm and collaborative environment.
BHS educates its students to the highest international standards. As an International Baccalaureate school, A Level school and Round Square Global Member, with accreditations from both the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), BHS provides a global education that prepares its students to succeed wherever their lives take them.
The Head of School is accountable to the Board of Trustees and has overall responsibility for the leadership of the school, both academic and administrative.
Passionate about girls’ education, the Head will bring at least ten years’ experience in senior roles within a high-performing independent or international school. An experienced teacher, they will hold an appropriate qualification such as a Bachelor of Education, with a master’s degree or other advanced training preferred. They will be familiar with more than one internationally recognised curriculum, ideally including either the British curriculum or the International Baccalaureate. The Head will demonstrate a strong track record of mentoring and developing staff, supporting students and fostering a dynamic and healthy school community. The successful candidate will be a strategic, forward-thinking leader with experience in managing change in a diverse environment, alongside exposure to strategic planning and fundraising.
Above all, the Head of School will be a person of exceptional integrity and character, with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. They will thrive in a collegial and caring culture, working collaboratively and building meaningful relationships across the school community. The Head of School will share the values that define BHS and will earn the trust and respect of all members of the community through an open, transparent, warm and engaging style.

Odgers will review applications as they are received and present candidates to the Committee in mid-August. Committee interviews will take place virtually in a first round in late August, and then in-person in Bermuda in late September. The new Head of School is expected to assume the position in July 2027.
