Back to school: Louisenlund’s return after lockdown

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 13th our Head, Peter Rösner and the Senior Management Team made the decision to close the school, two weeks before the Easter holidays and send all students, who were able to do so, home. Seven weeks later, we started the process of bringing years 7-11 back to school as residential students and effectively creating an isolation ‘bubble’ on campus.
Radford ‘radCREATES’ service learning during lockdown

The Service-Learning team at Radford College launched a Virtual Rad Greeting Card service (radCREATES) for people, communities and organisations we have an existing relationship with. The aim is to hopefully extend beyond these borders. The idea is for us all to remain meaningfully creative, while harnessing that magic way that art – as well as a simple, positive outreach – can improve and enhance the day, if not lives, of others.
Adventure During Lockdown at Markham College

Students at Markham College have decided to re-evaluate what adventure looks like to them and created a campaign to “Make Your Own Adventure” using the lockdown as an opportunity to spread awareness that adventure isn’t all about going outside and ‘doing’ activities.
Christ’s College Native Trees for the Christchurch Green Spine

The Environment Committee at Christ’s College has been nurturing a nursery of around 25 different native species. Around 2500 juvenile plants were planted to a permanent location around the Brooker Ave Reserve in the ‘Red Zone’ as part of a government plan to rejuvenate an area badly affected by the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes.
Students initiate Climate Strike at St Stithians College

Over 60 students from Boys’ and Girls’ College braved the early morning traffic, and marched to the school entrance, brandishing banners and placards protesting climate change. Their intention was to urge the school, and the community at large, to become more aware of the climate crisis and to adopt sustainable practices.

Saint Andrew’s School collaborative service project

For the eighth consecutive year, Saint Andrew’s School partnered with The Fern Hill School of Canada in the name of Service and Adventure. For this year’s edition of the collaborative trek, the students travelled to Turrialba, Costa Rica, where the bulk of the trip was dedicated to building a playground for the local community.
