Kilimanjaro Expedition 2026: The Journey So far

The Round Square Kilimanjaro Expedition Team 2026 has embarked on its adventure in celebration of Round Square’s 60th anniversary.

After spending the first few days in camp learning about the region’s history, culture, people, geology and natural environment, the team has bonded well through a shared love of games and cards, while balancing excitement and nerves about the challenge ahead.

Yesterday, the group completed its first acclimatisation hike, reaching 2,700m above sea level. Today, the journey continues with an approximately four-hour trek to an altitude of 3,500m.

Students have joined from Appleby College, Canada, Dunn School, USA, Glenlyon Norfolk School, Canada, Gordonstoun School, Scotland, Herlufsholm Skole, Denmark, Landheim Ammersee, Germany, Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School, Australia, Lower Canada College, Canada, Roedean School, South Africa, Schule Schloss Salem, Germany, Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School, Canada, The Armidale School, Australia, Whanganui Collegiate School, New Zealand and Woodleigh School, Australia.

The team is doing well but currently off grid with limited access to the internet. We will keep you updated on progress when they connect, sharing their stories, photos and reflections from the team.
