
Students bring Round Square Hero Sidekicks to life in global Storytelling Competition
We are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Round Square Heroes of Discovery Storytelling Competition.
We have been amazed by your students’ talent, creativity and inventiveness in crafting some elaborate tales. They introduced us to sidekicks that ranged from loyal dogs and clever spectacles to little brothers and even talking candy.
Choosing just a few winners from such a wonderfully varied collection was no easy task. Each story offered something unique and an interesting take on the Round Square Discoveries. After much thoughtful deliberation by our judging panel, the winning entries across three age categories are:
Under 11s
- 1st place: Fern by Avalon, Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School, Australia
- 2nd place: Dustbin Dani by Isla, St Cyprian’s School, South Africa
- 3rd place: Wild City Rescue by Anvitha, The Millennium School, UAE
- Highly Commended: Sumi Tech Glasses by Belle, Olive Tree International Academy, China
11–14 year olds
- 1st place: The Case of the Stolen Mona Lisa by Vivaan, Ermitage International School, France
- 2nd place: The Tale of Curious Caitlin by Khaleela, St Cyprian’s School, South Africa
- 3rd place: Kibo and Sima by Pratiksha, Miles Bronson Residential School, India
- Highly Commended: Sidekick Sandy by Alexandra Pickels, Millwood School, USA
15–18 year olds
- 1st place: Hopeful Hannah by Tlhomogi, Penryn, South Africa
- 2nd place: Resourceful Rhea by Inaya, First Steps School of Arts & Sciences, Pakistan
- 3rd place: Mysteries of Clueland by Eshal, First Steps School of Arts & Sciences, Pakistan
- Highly Commended: Authentic Angela by Innocentia, Penryn, South Africa

RS Heroes of Discovery Photo Gallery
As part of the Heroes of Discovery celebration, we invited students to submit photos of their costume creations — and the results were fantastic.
