Colegio Gran Bretaña is a private, co-educational, international day school (Nursery – Year 13) serving 460 students who represent 50 different nationalities. CGB is internationally accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

CGB is committed to holistic, personalised, and inclusive education. A challenging internationally recognised curriculum is offered through small class sizes in which the main medium of instruction is English. All students also take Spanish at different levels, and students are also exposed to the local language in subjects such as P.E. Performing Arts, and our Co-curricular activities. French is also taught, allowing us to offer a truly international and multilingual education for today’s learners.  Diversity is embraced and celebrated in a caring and safe environment that fosters both excellence and equity.

The school and its programmes are built on eight Foundation Blocks that intertwine our learning as a holistic experience covering; a Caring Community, Co and Extra Curricular Programmes, Inclusion, International Mindedness,  Leadership, Outdoor Education, Performing Arts, and Strong Academic Core.

The IDEALS in our school

We foster the Round Square Ideals by:

INTERNATIONALISM
Welcoming and respecting people of all nationalities, creeds and languages.
Developing an awareness and appreciation of language diversity.
Exploring multiple perspectives of world views throughout the curriculum.
Embracing the cultural heritage of our host country, Colombia, and other countries whilst ensuring all students’ home cultures are preserved and respected.
Promoting open-mindedness and providing rich opportunities to learn from the experiences of other members of our community.

DEMOCRACY & LEADERSHIP
Providing opportunities for leadership, interpersonal relations, teamwork, conflict resolution and organisational skills, through our Student Council, Prefect system, MUN, House teams, and through the numerous committees which open valuable spaces for students to develop.

ENVIRONMENTAL
Confronting global issues as a community and working for solutions at a local level. Providing enriching learning opportunities for our students through the membership of our school to the wetlands network in our area.
Permeating education for sustainability within the life of CGB.
Providing the opportunity to participate in the school’s Eco Committee.
Offering rich and varied field trips and a structured outdoor educational programme.

ADVENTURE
Exploring the most magnificent natural areas of our host country through our Beyond the Summit camps and by providing rich co-curricular and Performing Arts programmes which encourage our students to move out of their comfort zones and to live unknown and adventurous experiences that will also develop new interests in them.

SERVICE
Encouraging a sense of duty to serve our local communities and being empowered to bring about positive change.
Promoting school-wide projects and community service initiatives such as the Health Brigade, the House Building Activity, and the CAS projects, developing in our students dispositions of empathy, service toward others, global citizenship and participation that will go beyond their school years.

What being a Round Square school means to us

Being part of Round Square opens a lot of opportunities for our students to meet, discuss and learn with and from children from all around the world. Our students are also provided with authentic opportunities to develop leadership skills. They are forced to see themselves as part of a worldwide organisation, gaining a wider perspective, and learning what global citizenship is about.
