The IDEALS in our school
Scotch Oakburn College embeds the Round Square IDEALS in its activities across all campuses. Whether it be service trips to East Timor, cultural trips to Indigenous communities, helping to restore the wetlands adjoining the College’s grounds, participating in a range of outdoor adventure programs, participating in community events such as ANZAC Day services and charity fundraisers, the IDEALS provide the philosophical underpinning for a wide variety of activities that our students are involved in.
In the Junior School there is a focus on embedding the Round Square IDEALS in the learning culture through Units of Inquiry and there is a successful home learning/learning together initiative in place.
What being a Round Square school means to us
While the national and international opportunities that our students have access to through the Round Square network are invaluable and life-changing, the real power of Round Square for Scotch Oakburn lies in what it brings into the school community, thereby providing access to a much larger number of students. As the school environment and community at Scotch Oakburn is not as multi-cultural as some big-city schools the diversity that the Round Square ethos brings to the learning of our students is very important when fulfilling our “Vision for learning”.
